The Petroleum Division is responsible for the function of raising public awareness on the impacts that may be faced by communities affected by petroleum prospecting and petroleum development related activities and issues. This function is carried out with other Sections within the Petroleum Division and with the Petroleum Advisory Board which is also mandated to play a role in raising public awareness about the processes and safeguards involved in negotiating access rights and any compensation that may be due to any land owner or land owning group.

The Energy Division’s Renewable Energy and Electricity Sections also play a role in raising public awareness about government initiatives and policy objectives to communities that may be affected by the implementation of national renewable energy projects such as geothermal and hydrological power generation projects.
