Policy Formulation

The Mines Division’s Economic Geology Section is the Solomon Islands Government’s main coordinator of policy formulation for the country’s mining and minerals sector. The Section carries out this task on behalf of the Director of Mines and in consultation with other Sections of the Mines Division and the MMERE’s Corporate Services Division and with other government ministries, provincial governments, landowning groups, investors and communities that may be affected by mining activities.

Suggestions for legislative reforms and publication of national minerals policies are some of the key outcomes of the policy formulation process.
