The Director of the Mines Division and the Comptroller of Customs are responsible for ensuring that all mineral exports from the Solomon Islands comply with the Mines and Minerals Act and with Solomon Islands’ Customs and Excise Act. Under the Acts, all minerals exported from the Solomon Islands require the payment of an export duty unless an exemption is granted for an export consignment under the laws of Solomon Islands.

In terms of gold exports by licensed gold dealers, the Director of Mines must also be informed of the details of such exports in accordance with the Mines and Minerals Acts.
