Project Name

Tina River Hydro Development Project (TRHDP)

Effective Date

Project Status

The project aims to generate hydro-electricity at the Tina River area on Guadalcanal Province. A design for the hydro-dam facility was completed by K-Water and reviewed by the World Bank, Solomon Power and the MMERE Project Office. The review is important as the design project cost will form a major component of the final Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Solomon Power has finalised a concept design for the hydro-power project’s transmission line while land issues are being negotiated with tribal groups in the area. Apart from the building of access roads, the Project will also assist in developing schools, clinics and other social welfare developments to raise the standard of living of the communities that will be affected by the project. This is part of community-share benefit towards the affected communities of the project site.
